Making a difference!

The "Mall-ternative" gift fair was a great success and I want to thank all the shoppers who bought Scrabble ornaments! I sold out (woohoo) and happily took the donation to My Friend’s House last Tuesday. It warms my heart to know so many kind and generous people!!

I want to thank Tara (volunteer coordinator at MFH) for helping with the ornaments and then coming to church and buying them, too! Thanks also to my mom and my sister for helping to jazz up the ornaments with ribbons and bells! And a special thanks to a great colleague who came by to shop!!!

After school I met with kids from my community service club. I started the club this year because I wanted to help our middle school students make a difference! The first project we started involved recycling: collecting can tabs! Today we decided on our next project: collecting “Pennies for Patients” for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I will keep you updated on our progress!

Family Heirlooms

I’m named after my mother’s father. I never knew my Opa (he passed away when my mom was expecting me), but I am blessed to have inherited a piece of furniture that belonged to him. He owned a gentlemen’s clothing store, and the fabric samples used for custom suits were kept in a small cabinet. It’s a beautiful solid wood cabinet with cubbyholes.

Over the years it has displayed many collectibles, but for the past few years I’ve used it to store craft supplies.

We have many treasured heirlooms, but this is one of my favorites!

"Mall-ternative"

Our church is having a "Mall-ternative" Christmas gift fair on December 1st and 2nd. There will be ministries from and supported by our church offering items like baked goods, handcrafted gifts, books, holiday décor, fair trade goods and much more! I'm putting together ornaments for the fair, and all the proceeds will benefit My Friend's House.

I'm making the "Itty Bitty Crochet Hearts" to add as gift tags.

My Friend’s House is a residential group-home located in our community which serves abused, neglected, and at-risk adolescent males ages 12-18 by providing for their physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and educational needs.

The residents, staff, and volunteers of My Friend’s House made these!

The boys came up with some great ideas!!

There are many crochet patterns on the web---I found this one at:

My Favorite Place!

Welcome to my world! I have lived in and traveled to many places, but home is definitely my favorite place to be. This blog will be my place to post about unimportant things I enjoy, especially crafty things. I treasure my home, and I'll share some of the treasures that make it mine!

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
